Hanukkah
Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. It is also known as the Festival of Lights and the Feast of Dedication. Hanukkah begins on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar and usually falls in December.
Hanukkah is celebrated by lighting a menorah, eating latkes and dreidels, giving Chanukah gelt (money), and playing games. The story of Hanukkah is about a small band of Jews who fought against a much larger army and won because they had faith in God.
World AIDS day
This day is important because it reminds us all that HIV and AIDS are still major issues in the world. Despite all of the progress that has been made in the fight against HIV and AIDS, there are still millions of people who are affected by this disease. In addition, there are many people who continue to die from AIDS-related causes each year.
This year, World AIDS day is particularly important because it marks the 30th anniversary of the first public announcement of HIV and AIDS. In the three decades since then, a great deal of progress has been made in terms of both research and treatment. However, much work still needs to be done in order to fully address the challenges posed by HIV and AIDS.
One of the most important things that we can do on World AIDS day is to raise awareness about this disease.
Krampusnacht
Krampusnacht is a holiday celebrated in parts of Europe on December 5th. The holiday celebrates Krampus, a creature who punishes children who have been naughty.
Krampus is often depicted as a demon-like creature with horns and a tail. He carries a bundle of switches used to punish bad children.
Bodhi Day
Bodhi Day is a Buddhist holiday that commemorates the day that Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, reached enlightenment under a Bodhi tree.
It is celebrated on December 8th in the Theravada tradition and on November 15th in the Mahayana tradition. The day is celebrated with meditation, prayer, and recitation of scriptures.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Pope Pius IX declared the Immaculate Conception to be a dogma of the Catholic faith in 1854. The feast of the Immaculate Conception celebrates Mary’s conception without sin. Catholics believe that Mary was preserved from original sin by a special grace from God.
Human Rights Day
Human Rights Day is a commemoration to celebrate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948. This declaration is a milestone document in the history of human rights.
It articulates for the first time the fundamental rights that belong to all human beings, regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, or other characteristics. The declaration has been translated into more than 500 languages and has been distributed around the world. In order to mark Human Rights Day, events are organized each year by local groups and NGOs, as well as UN institutions.
Las Posadas
Las Posadas is a traditional nine-day Christmas celebration in Mexico. It commemorates the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and is celebrated from December 16-24.
Each evening, a different family hosts a posada or party, and guests reenact the journey of Mary and Joseph. They knock on doors seeking shelter and are finally welcomed into the home where they enjoy food, music, and dance.

Begins on December 26th and lasts for 7 days. Kwanzaa is a celebration of African heritage and culture that was created in 1966 by Dr.Maulana Karenga.
