How to mass delete contacts on iPhone? iOS 11.3, released on March 29th, 2018, brings a small but much needed change to the iPhone: the ability to mass delete contacts. This feature had been available on Android devices for years, so it was about time that Apple caught up.
To mass delete contacts on your iPhone, open the Contacts app and tap Edit in the top right corner. Then tap the red circle with the white minus symbol next to each contact you want to delete. When you’re finished, tap Delete in the top right corner. iOS will ask if you want to confirm your selection; tap Delete again to proceed.
It’s worth noting that this only deletes the contact from your phone; it doesn’t remove them from iCloud or any other devices they’re synced with.
Where Should You Delete Contacts?
The iPhone can be a great way to keep in touch with your contacts, but sometimes you may need to delete some of them. If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few tips on where you should delete contacts on your iPhone.
The first place to look is in the Contacts app. You can delete contacts one at a time by selecting them and then tapping the trash can icon. If you want to delete multiple contacts, you can use the Select button to select them all and then tap the trash can icon.
Another place to delete contacts is in the Phone app. To do this, open the Phone app and tap the Contacts tab at the bottom of the screen. Then, swipe left on any contact and click Delete.
Finally, you can also delete contacts from iCloud by logging into iCloud.
Using Your iPhone to Delete a Single Contact
When you delete a contact on your iPhone, the contact is not actually deleted. The contact is just hidden from the Phone app and all of your other apps that might access your contacts. If you want to delete a contact permanently, you need to delete the contact’s entry in your iCloud account.
- To delete a single contact on your iPhone, open the Phone app and tap on the Contacts tab.
- Scroll down until you find the contact that you want to delete.
- Tap on the Edit button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Tap on the red Delete button next to the contact’s name.
- A dialog box will appear asking if you are sure that you want to delete the contact.
- Tap on Delete Contact to confirm that you want to delete the contact.
Using a Mac to Delete Multiple Contacts
If you have a lot of contacts on your iPhone that you want to delete, it can be a pain to do it one at a time. You can use a Mac to delete multiple contacts quickly and easily. Here’s how:
- First, open the Contacts app on your Mac.
- Then, select the contacts you want to delete.
- You can select them all at once by pressing Command + A, or you can select them one at a time by clicking on each contact.
- Once you’ve selected the contacts you want to delete, click the “Delete” button in the toolbar.
- A dialog box will appear asking if you want to delete the contacts permanently or just remove them from your iPhone.
Using a Web Browser to Delete Mass Contacts
It is possible to use a web browser to delete multiple contacts on iOS.
- To do this, open the Safari web browser and go to icloud.com.
- Log in with your iCloud username & password.
- Once logged in, click on the Contacts icon in the top menu bar.
- This will open your contacts list in a new web page.
- In the Contacts list, select the check boxes next to the contacts that you want to delete.
- Once you have selected all of the contacts that you want to delete, click on the Actions menu in the top toolbar and select Delete Selected Contacts.
- A warning dialog will appear asking if you are sure that you want to delete the selected contacts.
- Click on Delete Selected Contacts again to confirm and delete the selected contacts from your iCloud account.
Deleting All Contacts
iOS devices allow users to delete all contacts with just a few taps.
- This can be done by opening the Contacts app and tapping on the “Edit” button in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Then, users should select all of the contacts they want to delete and tap on the “Delete” button in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- A warning will pop up asking if users are sure they want to delete all of their contacts.
- If they tap “Delete,” then all of their contacts will be removed from their device.
